The Department of Civil Society Studies was established in 2001 to host the graduate study program Civic Sector Studies and associated research activities of the Department's faculty and collaborators. It is part of the Faculty of Humanities, founded in 2000, which offers academic programs in a wide selection of the humanities and social sciences to more than 2000 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students. The Faculty is one of the 17 Faculties of Charles University in Prague, founded in 1348 and currently the academic home for more than 50.000 students.
